ChristCare
Small Groups
|
St.
Peter Lutheran Church has just begun the process of establishing
ChristCare Small Groups. Below is a brief description of the purpose of
ChristCare groups and the opportunities they provide. Look for more
information in the near future.
What
Are ChristCare Groups?
ChristCare Groups provide people with three benefits we all need in our
lives: a place to belong, grow, and receive care. We all can find
ourselves wishing for a group of Christian friends who know us, care
about us, and will stick with us through thick and thin. ChristCare
Groups provide that kind of koinonia: a New Testament word that
describes the close Christian relationships and sharing early
Christians enjoyed (see, for example, Acts 2:42-47).
ChristCare Group members encourage one another to grow as Jesus’
disciples. They pray together, search the Scriptures, and share their
victories and challenges as they strive to live as more fully devoted
followers of Jesus Christ.
When ChristCare Group members suffer the bumps and bruises of daily
life, they know the other group members will listen to them and care
for them. When group members experience crises, their group is there
for them, supporting them, making sure they don’t suffer alone.
How
Can You Become Involved?
Is God calling you to become part of ChristCare Group Ministry in our
congregation?
Here are three ways you can do so:
- Join
A ChristCare Group:
Our congregation strives to
have ChristCare Groups available for anyone who wants to join one.
There may be a group with room for more members, or a new group for you.
- Become
a ChristCare Group
Leader
ChristCare Group Leaders are
Christians with gifts for leadership, encouragement, serving, and
caring who are able to serve two years. After completing 40 hours of
ChristCare Group Leader Training they form and lead ChristCare Groups.
Their duties include:

ChristCare
Group meetings

Group
meetings for Support, Encouragement, and Accountability

- Become
A ChristCare Equipper
ChristCare Equippers are
clergy or lay leaders in our congregation. They are members of the team
that builds and directs our congregation’s ChristCare Group
Ministry.
The Equippers Team is responsible for:

a foundation
for
ChristCare Group Ministry
