Kyle B. Chuhran served as principal at
Messiah Lutheran
School in Fairview Park, Ohio,
from 2004-2010. A 1982 graduate of
Lutheran High School East (Harper Woods), Mr.
Chuhran received a B.A. in music education in 1987 from Concordia
College, Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 2008, he received an M.S. Degree in
Educational Administration from Concordia
University, Wisconsin.
He previously spent four years
(2000-2004) in the Baltimore Lutheran High School Association, serving for two
years as the Upper School Principal at Baltimore
Lutheran School
in Towson, Maryland,
after which he was assigned to the position of principal of the association’s new school, Harford
Lutheran School
in Bel Air, Maryland.
Mr. Chuhran served from 1997-2000 at
St. Peter’s Lutheran School in Eastpointe,
Michigan, where he taught grades
6 and 7, coached basketball, and was the Assistant Principal. From 1992-1997 he served St. John’s
Lutheran
School in Marysville, Ohio as 7th and 8th grade
teacher. He also was the youth director
for four years and athletic director/head basketball coach for one year. Prior to his service in Ohio,
Mr. Chuhran was the music director at Metro
East Lutheran
High School in Edwardsville, Illinois.
He served in Edwardsville from 1988-1992, where he also directed the elementary
band programs at several Lutheran elementary schools, taught theology, and was
the chapel director.
He is a member of the Association for
Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the Lutheran Educators’
Association. His wife, Cheryl, will
serve as a 2nd grade teacher at St. Peter this year. The Chuhrans reside in Shelby Township. Their daughter Alyssa (18)is a freshman at
Central Michigan University, Anna (16) and Isaiah (14) will be attending
Lutheran High School North, and Nathaniel (12) will be a 7th grader
at St. Peter.
In his spare time, Mr. Chuhran enjoys
fishing, collecting antique fishing gear, and cheering on the Pistons, Red
Wings, Tigers, and Wolverines.
