Rev. Ken Wagener
Member Care and Stewardship Pastor
Pastor Ken, Brenda, and Libby moved to Macomb in December, 2005. At that time, St. Peter Church and School were transitioning to our recently completed sanctuary. The weekend before Christmas, members and friends worshipped together in our new facility—it was a joyful time of celebration to the Lord! The Wageners were honored to share in this milestone for St. Peter.
Pastor Ken grew up in south St. Louis, Missouri. The oldest of three siblings, his family attended Christ Memorial Lutheran Church. He was confirmed there, and the congregation supported his decision to pursue pastoral ministry. At Christ Memorial’s “Youth Group,” he also met Brenda. They married in 1980, and have lived in five states during their ministry. Since those early days, she’s been a faithful partner and co-worker in serving the Lord. She works part-time in a pediatric dental office.
In 1992, the Wageners welcomed their daughter Alissa into their lives—by adoption! Libby has artistic and retail sales/marketing skills and interests, and enjoys reading and technology.
In the past, Pastor Ken has served congregations in Iowa, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the St. Louis area. His passions in congregational ministry have always been uplifting worship, growing as disciples of Jesus Christ, and caring for one another in our times of need. He’s a certified facilitator for 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families, and enjoys reading in the areas of marriage enrichment, personal strengths and leadership, and history.
At St. Peter, his focus in ministry is Member Care and Stewardship. He is also privileged to serve as Lead Pastor alongside his ministry brothers and with so many dedicated professional and volunteer staff.

He has the distinction of being the first fifth-generation graduate of Concordia Seminary. Upon ordination he became youth pastor at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. Pastor Matt Baye is originally from Green Bay, WI. He grew up in a loving Christian home, the oldest of four children, two sons and two daughters. Pastor Matt graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin (Mequon) in 2006, and he received his M.Div. from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO, in May 2010. He has served at St. Peter since July 2010.
It was at Concordia University Wisconsin that Pastor Matt met his wife Megan. Megan is also a 2006 graduate of Concordia with a degree in Secondary Education and Math. Her hometown is Red Bud, IL, and she is the second of four daughters. During their time at St. Peter, Matt and Megan have been blessed with a daughter, Eliana, born in June 2011, and a son, Nathan, born in September 2013.
Pastor Matt enjoys sports of all kinds, especially football, baseball, and basketball, and is a loyal fan of his hometown Green Bay Packers. He also enjoys music, reading, and messing around inside the family computer. He appreciates walks with the family and Michigan’s natural beauty and change of seasons. His favorite activities within ministry are preaching, teaching, and helping others to discover the joy that comes in knowing and belonging to Jesus Christ.
Bo Chapman has been serving in student ministry since 1997. He originally graduated with his BBA & MBA from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1994 and 1996, respectively, before being asked to serve as the interim student minister at Trinity Lutheran Church, Tyler. Shortly thereafter, he would become the full time student minister for Trinity, Tyler, and would spend nine years working there with students and their families. It was also during this time that he obtained his certification as a Director of Christian Education through Concordia University Texas. In late 2006, Bo accepted the call from St. Peter Lutheran Church to serve as their Director of Student Ministries and officially began his new role on January 21, 2007.
Bo was blessed to be able to marry the love of his life, April, on December 27, 2003. Later God would bring a beautiful daughter, Mallory, into their lives in June of 2007, and a wonderful son, Mason, in September of 2009.
Personal hobbies for Bo and his family include lots of time together traveling and exploring new things, involvement in music, as well as, playing and watching sports (okay, maybe the sports is just for Bo).
Having the opportunity to work with students and families over the years, Bo will tell you that his love for people, the Christian faith, and most importantly, his Lord & Savior, continues to grow. His desire remains to share the good news of Christ, live out his faith day to day, and help others in their personal and spiritual growth.
